Our client is an established, respected global law firm. They’re over 100 years old and have over 1,000 lawyers. Their clients are in the financial, private equity, real estate, technology and life sciences industries. They are searching a Public Relations Specialist who is a self-starter and highly motivated to support the firm’s external communications, with a focus on public relations and media initiatives.
This position is located in midtown Manhattan. Reports to the Senior Manager of Communications. You will be part of a five person communications team. It’s a new role due to growth. The culture is collaborative, open, professional and a little less formal than the stereotypical law firm.
*Develop an understanding of the law firm and keep up with industry trends to proactively identify strategic media opportunities on topics that align with the firm’s core practice areas.
*Cultivate and maintain relationships with lawyers and serve as a go-to resource regarding public relations/communications activities.
*Actively support day-to-day public relations activities including co-managing the firm’s PR agencies, fielding and responding to interview requests, preparing and facilitating partner interviews, drafting and distributing firm press releases and providing guidance to lawyers on thought leadership development.
*Draft external website news items and other communications materials.
*Curate content, copy edit and coordinate publishing for the firm’s website and other digital platforms.
*Maintain editorial calendars for press engagement.
*Develop working knowledge of applicable systems and tools utilized within the department, as required.
*Approximately 4-6 years public relations and/or corporate communications experience. Strongly prefer background working on legal, professional services or financial services accounts. The salary is commensurate with someone at this experience level.
*Strong project management experience with multi-faceted written projects and extensive experience working with layers of approval.
*Excellent work ethic and a proactive style.
*Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work with a wide variety of people and projects in a collective and collaborative manner.
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
*Ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology skills to improve communication efforts.
